Career & Technical Student Organization (CTSO)

Career & Technical Education (CTE) is an education pathway that provides students with the academic, technical, and real-world knowledge, skills, and experience they need to be prepared for a variety of career options. CTE gives students training and skills in many different types of careers in high-growth industries such as science and technology, healthcare, and business management. CTE programs are personalized, hands-on, and let students explore different career fields. CTE is part of the middle school and high school experience and prepares students for the full range of post-secondary opportunities, including college and careers.

Agriscience

The AgriScience program is designed to prepare students for over 300 career pathways by providing them an overview of the fields of agricultural, animal, plant, and soil science; animal husbandry, soil conservation, and agriculture operations such as farming, ranching, agricultural business, and natural resources.

Business Management

The Business Management instructional program prepares students to plan, organize, direct, and control the functions and processes of a firm or organization. Students who successfully complete the Business Management program’s coherent sequence of instruction will develop an in-depth understanding of the business and financial management practices needed for large and small enterprises. The Business Management program includes instruction in management theory, project management, human resources management and behavior, business management and other quantitative methods, purchasing and logistics, organization and production, marketing, and business decision-making. Throughout the Business Management instructional program, students learn and practice valuable real-world skills using industry standard office productivity software to manage business functions.

Culinary Arts

The Culinary Arts program prepares students to apply technical knowledge and skills required for food production and service occupations in commercial foodservice establishments. Students completing this program will possess the technical knowledge and skills required for planning, selecting, storing, purchasing, preparing and serving quality food products. Nutritive values, safety and sanitation procedures, use of commercial equipment, serving techniques and management of food establishments will also be studied. Throughout the Culinary Arts instructional program, students will develop advanced critical thinking, applied academic, career development, life and employability skills, business, economic, and leadership skills required for culinary arts occupations.

Diesel Engine Repair

The Diesel Engine Repair program prepares individuals to apply technical knowledge and skills to repair, service, and maintain diesel engines in vehicles such as automobiles, buses, ships, trucks, railroad locomotives, and construction equipment, as well as, stationary diesel engines in electrical generators and related equipment.

Early Childhood

The Early Childhood Education program is designed to prepare students for employment in early childhood settings. The Early Childhood Education program includes instruction in child growth and development, child health, nutrition, safety, planning, and supervision of developmentally-appropriate practices and learning activities. Child guidance, family relationships, parenting, and applicable legal and administrative requirements are also addressed. Preparation for the development and management of effective early childhood programs and facilities is included.

Graphic Design

The Graphic Design instructional program prepares students to use technical expertise, creativity, and esthetic principles to design and create visual concepts that meet specific commercial or promotional needs, as well as inspire, inform, and captivate consumers. Students who successfully complete the Graphic Design program’s coherent sequence of instruction will develop an in-depth understanding of the operation and maintenance of specialized computer hardware and design-related technology tools; the principles and elements of design; digital imaging; typographical concepts and techniques; page layout and design; and the role of the graphic designer. Graphic Design students will explore the history and societal and economic impact of the graphic design industry and will examine legal and ethical considerations and business best practices unique to graphic design and related industries. Throughout the Graphic Design instructional program, students learn and practice valuable real-world skills using industry standard graphic design software to create professional-grade design projects.

Sports Medicine

The Sports Medicine program Introduces students to the roles of various disciplines within sports medicine and rehabilitation sciences as well as other allied health professions. Students will be introduced to the analysis of human movement based on anatomical and mechanical principles. Emphasis is placed on the anatomy and physiology of the muscular, skeletal, and nervous systems and their interaction in human movement and athletic performance. They will also learn signs and symptoms of injuries, illnesses, and disorders commonly seen in the physically active population. Students will develop skills in injury prevention, injury and illness assessment, and using appropriate terminology and medical documentation to record injury and illness.
